SARAH (FINE HOME TALKS):  In order to take down trees in the State of Connecticut, you do not need to be an arborist?

ADAM (KDF TREE):  Correct, you don’t need to be an Arborist, you don’t need insurance. You literally don’t need anything.

SARAH:  Okay, so that’s terrifying.

ADAM:  It’s scary. So, to crane a tree you don’t need a crane license in Connecticut.

SARAH:  You’re kidding!?

ADAM:  To do anything else, like if you want to pick up an air conditioner that says how much it weighs on it, you need a crane license. But to pick up pieces of tree that you’re making educated guesses on, and we do it daily and we’re very safe with it, but you’re making educated guesses at what a piece is going to weigh.

SARAH:  Right, yeah.

ADAM:  And then once [the tree is cut and] you have the piece, it’s 100 feet in the air. It’s not like you try to pick something up from the ground and it’s a little too heavy and you can just put it back down.

SARAH:  Exactly. Right.

ADAM:  For a state that is so heavily regulated…

SARAH:  It’s very regulated!  I’m actually surprised.

ADAM:  …it’s kind of like the Wild West like you were saying.
