Stump Removal or Stump Grinding?
Stump removal is the process of completely removing a stump and its largest roots from below the surface. This is the proper method to use if you’re planning on building a structure such as a shed. Stumps should also be completely removed if installing a patio at the location of the stump. Excavating is required for this job.
Stump Grinding is the process of using a machine with blades to shred a stump into a material like mulch after the tree is removed. The stump may be ground slightly below the surface but the root system is not removed. This method is adequate for lawn and yard expansions, however, sinkholes may develop when the root system deteriorates. Grinding should not be used if a structure is planned at the site of the stump.
